Tap water filters help purify tap water from all kinds of contaminants and greatly improve its taste and smell. Better water at home means a huge change in the quality of your and your household's daily life: drinking water from the tap is very convenient, and with the right filter, it also becomes completely safe. Filtering tap water is also environmentally friendly and helps to save money: you will learn about these and many other advantages of using water filters at home in the following article.

Tap water: why drink it? Is it safe?

Drinking tap water is the fastest and most convenient way to quench your thirst: no need to go shopping or carry heavy bottles. However, many people have concerns about the purity of tap water and its impact on our health.

These concerns are not unfounded. The owners of the municipal waterworks assure us that the water supplied to our homes is of high quality and is constantly tested for viruses, bacteria and other contaminants that are hazardous to health.

Sometimes tap water can be yellowish or rusty in color or have an unpleasant odor and taste, and many times you may also notice residue of sand or other solid contaminants in your tap water. As the experts at Smart Eco say, even completely clear water can contain unwanted elements and microorganisms invisible to the naked eye that can affect our health. For the reasons mentioned above, many people choose to drink tap water only after boiling, buy bottled water or bring water from Oligocene wells.

However, all of these solutions require time, effort and, in the case of buying water, additional money. A way to ensure that you have access to consistently clean and healthy water is to use a flow-through water filter, which will continuously purify the water used in your household, providing a number of benefits to the entire family.

Drinking water purified with a flow-through water filter is pleasant, easy and safe. Free of heavy metal residues, chlorine, rust, as well as bacteria and viruses, pesticides and other harmful microorganisms, the water is tasty and odorless. It is much more pleasant to drink than untreated water.

Having water that tastes good at home at all times can increase the amount of water consumed in the home. And that's a good thing: It's a well-known fact that at least 1.5 liters of water a day is necessary for good health. The fact is, many people have a hard time reaching that limit!

Filtered tap water can be used not only for drinking, but also for cooking: using filtered water significantly improves the smell and taste of hot food, as the filter removes chlorine from the tap water.

Purified water is also used to operate household appliances (washing machine, dishwasher, electric kettle or regular coffee maker), which prolongs their efficient functioning. Water subjected to filtration is also softened, thanks to which it generates less limescale deposited in the equipment. And scale, which in case of regular drinking of hard water is deposited in kidneys, is also harmful to our health. It is also worth mentioning that washing in soft water requires the use of a smaller amount of powder - so by regularly filtering the water, we can also save some of the money spent on detergents.

Running water filter - how it works

Installation of a flow-through water filter is the most convenient and effective way to improve water quality in the household. Such a filter is mounted directly at the point of water outlet: on the pipe that supplies water to the apartment or house. A flow-through filter removes all kinds of solid impurities from the water, such as sand or silt.

Reverse osmosis systems also capture dissolved harmful substances in tap water, such as chlorine, which gives the water an unpleasant taste, and coliform bacteria, whose presence in drinking water can cause dangerous poisoning. Flow-through water filters also purify water of other health-threatening viruses and bacteria, heavy metals, and pesticides that can enter tap water as runoff from agricultural fields into rivers (from which water is drawn into the water supply).

Filtering tap water: the advantages

The installation of a home water filtration system completely changes the way we perceive the water we consume and use every day: it is now no longer just a material for washing, but also a basis that can be used to prepare all kinds of beverages without fear. Both the water itself and hot drinks made with it taste much better when prepared with filtered water.

Filtering water makes life easier and healthier, saves money and is environmentally friendly (drinking tap water means not buying bottled water which generates a lot of plastic waste). A home water filtration system is also an investment in the value of the house or apartment, which can be an additional asset when selling.

All of the issues mentioned above make installing a home water filter a very good idea. It not only improves the quality of life and health, but also allows you to prepare tastier meals, drink more and care for the environment.

The cost of installing the filter will be quickly recouped by the savings made by using clean and healthy water from the tap, and the presence of a water filtration system makes the apartment more attractive on the real estate market, so when deciding on such a solution, you do not have to worry about the financial aspects.
