Pulsar is one of the leading names in the generator industry, due to its competitive price point, compared to the other big names such as Honda and Yamaha. Not only the generators are available at an affordable price, but no compromise has been made on their quality.

PG2000iS is an innovation of Pulsar that is among the most affordable inverter generators on the market. Also, it has more power outlets than most competitors in the range of 2000-3000 watt.

It produces a stable sine wave, which makes it completely safe to be attached to sensitive electronic devices, such as your laptops and mobiles.

In the long run, it can prove to be a worthwhile investment, as it always comes in handy during power outages, or during sudden plans for camping, hiking, or other similar outdoor activities.

Do not be fooled by its appearance though, it looks like a portable battery or a gas canister but is perfect for your emergency needs for a relatively larger period of time, all thanks to its 1.8-gallon fuel tank.

Features Of PG2000iS Inverter Generator

1. Power Output

Pulsar PG2000iS provides enough power output for it to be your first choice whenever you need an emergency backup around the house, or during your camping, tailgating, and any other outdoor recreational activities.

Apart from holding a steady power supply for primary survival appliances, it is also capable of increasing its power output when connected in parallel with a generator of the same model.

The power supplied by the generator is rated 1600 watts, with a peak of 2000 watts. Not only does it provide a stable and pure power output, but it is also clean as the generator is approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This means that it produces low levels of emissions, thus making it safe for the environment.

2. Power Outlets

The first thing that matters right after power output is the power outlets. And we are sure that you would be surprised once you hear the variety of power outlets this generator offers.

In total, despite the compactness and portable size of this generator, it has five different sorts of power outlets, all of which come handy depending upon your needs.

First and foremost, it has a USB charging port that is sure to be of immense value during your outdoor activities. Anytime you need to charge your cell phone, you would not even need an adapter and can directly connect your phone to the generator using a charging cable.

Then comes two standard American household style outlets, which are perfect for plugging in your appliances, or an extension cord. The latter lets you attach more appliances to the generator at the same time, but beware, as it also consumes more power and fuel.

For even more connectivity options, there is a 12V DC 1A power outlet. If you have another generator with you, you can connect it to this one in parallel through the parallel connection ports present on Pulsar PG2000iS, which will increase the overall combined power output.

3.  Size and Portability

Pulsar PG2000iS is designed as a handy suitcase with a handle and covering, which makes it easier to carry around during your outdoor trips and activities. It is also light in weight, weighing around 40 pounds, so you can comfortably handle it using your one hand instead of juggling with it along with other stuff. The suitcase handle prevents you from having to struggle while picking it up.

Its sleek and stylish design makes it stand out from other generators, and it would not be wrong if we say that it does not look like a generator at all. With dimensions of 17.91 inches x 11.22 inches x 19.7 inches, it is sure to fit in your car boot if you need it for travel, camping, tailgating, or any outdoor activities.

If you intend to keep it at home and only take it out during emergency electricity outages, it would not take any extra space and conveniently fits into your garage or storage shed. Also, do not be fooled by its small size, as it does look compact and easy to carry, but packs in a lot of power.

4. Run Time

When you have a Pulsar PG2000iS generator with you, you need not worry about its run time and fuel levels. It operates for about 13 hours on a gallon at 30-40% load and up to eight hours on 1.18 gallons of gas on full load. This makes it an ideal purchase for any unforeseeable power losses, as an emergency backup for electricity.

It offers the optimum amount of power you need for your primary appliances when you are out on a trip, as it lets you connect all your essentials to it without any hassle.

From large appliances such as refrigerators and freezers to smaller handy power tools such as wrenches and drills, everything can be powered using this compact and portable generator. Just make sure you don’t attach a lot of big appliances at once.

Moreover, it comes with an economy mode, which, when turned on, lets you stretch the runtime to a couple more hours. You can possibly get a run time of around 12 hours, but it all depends upon the type of appliances you intend to run using the generator.

Although it does not seem perfect for running the entire house, it does quite a decent job at powering the most part of it, which is highly commendable for its small size.

5. Noise Level

The Pulsar PG2000iS is quieter than traditional generators, so you can easily make use of it in neighborhoods and communities, without worrying about the amount of noise it will make. Moreover, its casing further assists in reducing the noise.

Pulsar PG2000iS makes use of reliable ultra-silent technology, which means that the average level of noise it produces is 59 decibels. It is around the same as two people having a chatter, so you might only have to increase your voice if you are standing really close to the generator.

In reality, you will probably never stand this close to a generator. If it does make more noise, consider reducing the load and placing it on a flat surface.

6. Fuel

The size of the fuel tank is 1.18 gallons (4.5L), and its run time is around 8 hours at half load. For lighter loads, or in economy mode, this runtime increases to approximately 12 hours, which is exceptional for a generator of this size.

If you are here reading an article about generators, you might be aware of the fact that gasoline, due to its clean-burning and wide availability, is the first choice for consumer-grade generators.

So Pulsar PG2000iS is a good choice for you if you prefer harmless and safe emissions and a higher degree of fuel efficiency, along with portability and ease of use.

Pros:

  • Supports parallel connection
  • Perfect for sensitive devices like laptops
  • Works silently and causes no disturbances
  • Lightweight and quite portable

Cons:

  • Not the best option for the entire house
  • The recoil start can be a pain for some people

How To Turn On PG2000iS Inverter Generator ?

Turning on Pulsar PG2000iS is a six-step procedure that is easy to follow and remember.

You start by placing the generator on level service and ensuring that no electrical devices are connected to it.

Next, you turn off the economy mode and turn the fuel cap vent to the on position. You change the start switch to 'CHOKE' setting and pull the recoil line until you feel resistance.

Upon feeling resistance from the recoil line, you pull it rapidly and keep doing it until the engine starts.

Once the engine starts, wait for at least half a minute and then change the start switch from 'CHOKE' to 'RUN' setting.

After roughly two minutes, you are free to start connecting your devices to the generator.

Maintenance

Compared to other generators of its size and type, Pulsar PG2000iS is relatively easy to maintain.

First and foremost, only high-quality fuel should be filled in the fuel tank. The unleaded gasoline required to function the generator should be sourced from your local filling station.

If you want to store the fuel for an extended period of time, it would help to have a fuel stabilizer with you.

Apart from these, you are only required for oil top-up from time to time, along with cleaning and changing the air filter.

Pulsar PG2000iS does come with a user manual, which you can consult whenever you face any difficulty.

It lists down everything in detail, so you do not have any questions and queries left unanswered.

It also contains a comprehensive maintenance schedule, which informs you when to service and replace the spark plug, when to check engine oil, when to inspect, clean, and replace the air filter, and a couple of other similar issues.

Also included in the maintenance manual is a list of generic replacement parts. An additional spark plug is included within the package, so you receive it with the generator. This extra tool lets you change the spark plug whenever you want without worrying to buy another one.

You can also check which type of oil would be most suitable for you depending on the location where you will be using the Pulsar PG2000iS generator. If you intend to use it at a couple of different places, the best choice for you would be synthetic 5W-30 oil.

Similarly, if you wish to use it in warmer surroundings, your best option would be SAE 30 oil.

Warranty Of PG2000iS Generator

All Pulsar generators are manufactured in China, including PG2000iS. When you purchase it, you are automatically entitled to a limited time warranty, which is for two years.

This two-year limited time warranty is further divided into two subcategories, generator components and labor, and generator engine and electrical components, one year for each.

The first year is dedicated to a limited coverage warranty that encompasses generator components and labor. During the second year of warranty, you can claim it for the generator engine and electrical components, but only the parts that do not have any labor costs associated with them.

Fortunately, the company offers excellent customer support, hence you will have no difficulty if you ever have to use the warranty.

Conclusion

In conclusion, PG2000iS by Pulsar is a reliable generator that offers excellent power and reliable output.

It proves to be the best choice for those who want to get the best of all three metrics: price, reliability, and performance.

Its power output rating is not the ideal to power up an entire house but certainly comes in handy during blackouts and emergency purposes or during your camping trips and outdoor activities.
